How to tell your trim is due
Trim takes more hits than any wall in the house. These are the things we look for on a walkthrough.
Scuffs that no longer wash off
Shoes, vacuums, and pets mark baseboards first. When cleaning burnishes a shiny patch, the film is spent.
Gaps opening at the seams
Caulk shrinks and splits at miters and along the wall line. Dark gaps make even clean trim look tired.
Whites that have yellowed
Trim whites drift over time, especially oil-based enamel and trim near kitchens and fireplaces.
Chipped door edges and casings
Door edges and the corners of casings take daily knocks. Chips expose primer or bare wood.
Cracks at joints and nail pops
