Paint to blend the repair
A patch only disappears if the paint over it matches. These are common wall colors in Atlanta homes, a good starting point if the room is due for a fresh coat.
Matching the color is only half of it. Fresh paint over a patch can still show as a dull or shiny square, called flashing, because the joint compound soaks up paint differently than the old wall. Primer seals the patch so the topcoat dries to the same sheen as everything around it.
Sheen matters as much as color. An eggshell touch-up on a flat wall will catch the light from across the room. When the existing paint has faded or the original can is long gone, the cleanest fix is to repaint the whole wall from corner to corner so there is no edge to find.
